Raven and Lysander || Ice Cream Distraction
“Silly Ray. You must know that someone like me that spends so much time reading knows better than anyone that you can’t ever properly judge a book by it’s cover. And quickly enough you learn that being nice, and often being quiet, can be the best way to learn about someone. Listening to their opinions. I’m not nearly as clueless as I look sometimes.” Lysander said, putting his finger on Raven’s nose. “Well, maybe we’ll never know whether or not I’d be a horrible boyfriend or not. I do try to be here though, when people need someone to listen. I do my best to not judge.” he said, smiling gently as he ran his fingers through Raven’s hair a bit. “You know, all those rumors people spread about you, some people would say that’s just cause people are jealous of you.” he said.
“It’s not the rumors that bother me; it’s the truth underlying in them,” Ray admitted looking anywhere but at Lysander. “Rumors are lies supported by weak truths. You’re not the only one who reads books. But I read too much. I have this idea of what my life is going to be like; set up like a book. It’s lame, I know,” Ray added grabbing Lysander’s hand and giving it a light squeeze. “But life isn’t like the books. It doesn’t always go right. And what if the happy endings are just stories that haven’t finished?” She laid back on Lysander’s bed looking up at the ceiling. “Sometimes I think people are right though. About Adam. He deserves better. Not me. Too many secrets in one person,” Ray whispered letting go of Lysander’s hand.

Lysander lifted the tub of ice cream he was holding, putting it off to the side as Raven rested her head in his lap. “People don’t really find this attractive, do they? I look a mess.” he said.”I definitely don’t feel attractive. I feel tired.” he shrugged. “But what if I’m not ready to mingle? I’m perfectly happy studying, and worrying over when it is that Lorcan will pop up again. I swear, that boy goes missing all the time. I’ll go crazy worrying about it before I go crazy over studying.” he sighed. “I just wish I knew when he was going of when he’d be back. Having a girlfriend would just be another thing to worry about. Making sure I gave her enough attention and all that. I’ve seen some people who make pretty horrible boyfriends. People who aren’t there enough… what if I’m one of them?” he asked.
“But you are attractive. Trust me. I wouldn’t just say that to anyone,” Raven replied biting her lip. “But life isn’t all about studying. And Lorcan can look after himself. I’m sure he would want you to be enjoying your final years as a teenager; not growing up too fast.” Lysander looked tired. Like he could drop any minute. Without even thinking about it, she laid her hand on Lysander’s cheek. “Why are you so nice to me? I never got that. You always seem to understand when I just need you to be there,” Ray rambled sitting up. “You wouldn’t be a horrible boyfriend. You wouldn’t be like…” Ray stopped herself before saying something she’d regret. She didn’t want to admit to herself that Lysander had just described Adam. She turned away pretending to rub sleep from her eyes; not wanting Lysander to see he had hit a soft spot. She was here to comfort him. Not the other way around.

“Sex hair? Oh, no, not at all.” Lysander laughed nervously. “I was studying and fell asleep on the couch in the common room yesterday and I haven’t changed. I got caught up in studying again. I really should shower.” he said. He took one of the spoons, putting it into the tub of icecream he had. “Even if anyone is interested, they never say it, so how am I supposed to know?” he asked. “And no one has really caught my eye yet. I don’t know. Maybe I just don’t work right. I’m really more concerned about finishing my projects than having a girlfriend.” he sighed.
“Studying. Right,” Raven teased raising her eyebrows. “That’s what that smell was? I thought it was from under your bed,” Raven added swooping down to look under his bed. Pulling herself up, she scrunched her nose in fake disgust. “Maybe you need to make it known that you are single and ready to mingle,” Raven suggested wiggling around shimming before laying down with her head in Lysander’s lap. “All work and no play makes Lysander a hot mess. You work fine. Some girl is going to make you completely glassy-eyed and you won’t be able to concentrate on your work. But you won’t care because all you can think about is how much she means to you,” Raven added with a half smile.

Lysander chuckled at the comment about how Ravenclaws study. “Trying so hard to be organized make it… well… hard to be organized. You try to have papers fro all different things, but then you end up with too much.” he said, nervously running his hand through his hair. “A lot of them are more focused, one track minds and all, but I always get distracted trying to do too many things at once.” he finally had all the books and papers gathered, returned to his bag. “Why is it that it always seems so hard to choose between flavors?” He sighed. “I think Neapolitan fixes that, the three combined. But now I’m just going off on everything, aren’t I? My head is still in study mode, sorry.” he apologized, laughing.
“You need to stop rambling so much. Sit down,” Raven demanded pulling Lysander down next to her. Crossing her legs, she sat the ice cream tub in her lap. She grabbed the sprinkles from her bag and poured some into the ice cream tub. Noticing Lysander’s bewildered expression she smirked. “Sprinkles make everything better. Here,” Ray added pouring some into Lysander’s chosen tub. “This whole organization thing makes my brain hurt. We need to get you out more. Or more ice cream breaks,” Ray joked nudging Lysander with her elbow. “I bet the ladies love the new wild look you got going on. Am I right? With the sex hair and everything,” Ray smirked ruffling his hair before picking her spoon up again to dig into her ice cream.

And the evil plan begins. I haven’t seen Adam in so long. Almost like he disappeared or something. But like you said, we’ve all been busy with homework and tests. Hopefully that changes soon. Hopefully.

Lysander laughed gently when he heard Raven knocking and yelling at his door. “Oh, stop being a drama queen.” he called back, rolling his eyes. He probably didn’t look the most presentable, his hair messy and his tie was loose, the top buttons of his shirt undone. He put his book off to the side, the papers still scattered over his bed.
He opened the door, holding it open for the other. “Come in then, queen.” he said. “All the other Ravenclaws are in the library, common room, or actually outside.” he explained. “And you just missed leaving with his bag and cursing about some thing or another. I don’t expect anyone else to come by until after dinner, or just before.” he said. He went over to his bed again. gathering the stray papers and books. “Sorry it’s a mess.”
“Ah what a lovely room you have,” Raven replied stepping through the entrance. Taking in Lysander’s appearance she tugged at his loosened tie with smirk. “It’s a nice look for you. Really,” Raven added gesturing to his shirt and messy hair. Placing her bag on a nearby table, she looked at Lysander’s arrangement of books. “So did you get in a fight with your books, or do all Ravenclaw’s study by throwing their paper around?” Raven asked pulling out the containers of ice cream. “I have chocolate and vanilla. But more importantly, I have sprinkles,” Raven added grabbing the spoons and sitting on Lysander’s bed.
